national parks

In the last 2 days we've been on two single-day tours of Kakadu adn Litchfield National Parks.

Kakadu was in the company of a lovely over-energised tour guide called Stu.
We went on a sweet river cruise to see th ewetlands - heaps of birds, plants water.. a few crocs, but one looked like a wind-up toy and th eother had been buried in the mud for over a week 'waiting for prey'. Honestly, he may as well have been dead or plastic, I coudlnt tell the difference.

Then We did somethign crazy as part of one of them and went up in one of those teeny weeny little planes you see hovering over waterfalls.
Mmm..
have a strong stomach or... somethign.
It was very drop and lift in spots and I decided to watch what was happenign but think about somethign entirely unrelated and pleasant instead...
JimJim Falls adn then Twin Falls. Very beautiful, currnetly unaccessible by road.

Currnetly reading Outback Heart by Joanne van Os. The wife of the man dubbed th eoriginal Croc Dundee.
She mentions a lot of what is said on tour and refers to places we'd been so it's the perfect book right now.

We were shown Aboriginal art and dream-time stories adn though I cna appreciate th eart, I dont particularly like it. Not to say I dislike it.. just.. well.. somethign.

Litchfield I enjoyed more. Possibly due to the novel encounter of coming face-to-face wiht a 5 1/2 m croc called Nero. He was beautiful and gentle as far as crocs go.

The afternoon was spent visiting watering holes. Wangi Falls is apparently known for it's waters of fertility so I avoided going anywhere near the water.
Boulders Rocks were a lovely lovely swim htough.
The Litchfield tour was wiht Louise and we chatte d the entire way back

Today was a day of markets and then reading and readsing...
Bob goes home tonihgt...

museum

In case nayone doubts it, it's hot up here.
I mean relaly hot.
REALLY hot.
All the time.
Which seems to increase drunkenness.
And I've decided I relaly really dont like drunkenness.
Especially of peopel I have to talk to.
Sigh.
Anyway.
Blah.
Museum was quite interesting.
There's an exhibition up here of Treasures of Libraries or soem such. Lots of interesting bits and pieces plucked form around th ecountry
And also a section on Cyclone Tracey. The scariest part of which is probably th etiny dark room wiht recordings of what th estorm sounded like...
2 LONG days ahead of Litchfield and Kakadu so prolly littl econtact.

Also saw a self-contained coral aquarium
Off to laze by the pool
Then off to some swanky food locale

so I'm in Darwin

The tour is over
Crew and dancers have gone home.
I decided that sufferign aweek of miserable tour-withdrawl was NOT on the books...
so as a last minute stab at freedom I booked 2 tix for me and Kuzin Bob to go to Darwin on Friday afternoon.

I'm in Darwin.
It's hot, there's a crocodile at the hostel and the local wildlife seems to consist entirely of tatooed spunky tourists of both sexes.

So now I get to send th elink to this blog to everyo ne.
Or nayone that feels like a read.
Photos on flickr wont go up till I've put all the Tzars ones up which wont be till I get back,.

I've spent the afternoon having brunch, wandering th eCBD (all 2 blocks of it), gathering info and lazing in the pool.
I am still on edge though coz I keep wandering what the time is and where I hsoudl be running off ot next.,

And next is th enight markets
Yay!
Hugs all.
